Interface is shortlisted for a National Patient Safety Award

Interface Clinical Services has been nominated for a prestigious National Safety Award for their work promoting safety within medicines management.

The innovative partnership between Interface and Edge Hill Health Centre in Liverpool has provided role-based medicines management training and reference materials to all staff at the health centre and has engaged with local pharmacies and wider community teams in order to ensure that safe, effective use of medicines is promoted and monitored throughout the local healthcare system.

Stacy Hannah, Medicines Management Facilitator at Edge Hill Health Centre, said “The process that we have created in partnership with Interface has enabled us to review over 3,000 of our patients so far, and regular reviews are set to continue. The reviews ensure that our patients are receiving the most effective treatments available to them, whilst phasing out any medicines that have been superseded or that are no longer necessary.”

Mike Drakard, Managing Director of Interface said “As well as reducing clinical risk, feedback from both patients and staff has been extremely positive. Furthermore daily prescription volume and costs have been reduced by over 10%, which is a big improvement in efficiency of prescribing. We are delighted to see this project shortlisted for such a prestigious award.”

The programme has been extremely successful and Interface is currently in talks with other local practices who are interested in replicating the project. The final round of judging takes place during May, with the winner announced at an event in London on 9th July.
